BATTLE OF COPENHAGEN ANNIVERSARY

LORD NELSON themed AUCTION
We thought we would celebrate our meeting in Worcester by including a Nelson-themed auction on Tuesday 30th giving members the opportunity to sell and/or buy Nelson related antiques and collectables at the same time raising funds for The Nelson Society.
On Monday 27th August 1802 Lord Nelson gave a large order of porcelain, to be decorated in his coat of arms. Mr Michael, a local carpet maker, added a pair of bedside carpets and a large quantity of cider and Perry was taken on board, costing an indulgent £12. 16s. 0d.
So much was loaded that it is said that ‘the carriages must have been straining under the weight of the gifts, souvenirs and purchases taken on board.’
Here is your opportunity to follow Lord Nelson’s example!
Items can be of any value – an antique commemorative vase perhaps or a Nelson themed jigsaw.
Members wishing to enter an item will pay the society a £5 lot entry fee.
Items will be bid for as per a usual auction and the buyer will pay the Society 20% of their buying price. i.e. if an items fetches £30 the buyer will pay £36. £30 to the seller and £6 to the Society.
If an item is kindly donated to the Society for auction – the buyer will pay the full amount plus 20% buyer’s fee directly to the Society
There will be an opportunity to view items in the morning and we are hoping to produce a basic catalogue/listing items to be auctioned which will be given to members at the start of the weekend.
Members wishing to enter a lot for the auction are asked if they would very kindly email a brief description of the item, a photograph/image where possible and, depending on the value of the lot, members have the option to state a reserve price.
We are sure it will be an interesting and enjoyable activity and offer members the opportunity to buy and or sell or simply view items relating to our hero.
Many members will, of course, have items in their collection they have no desire to sell but would nevertheless like to share information about these objects with other members. Where members have such items they are warmly invited to send an image and/or brief description of the object perhaps an anecdote (humorous, serious, factual) or few lines telling us what significance or special place the object holds for them
We are hoping that this not only adds interest and the catalogue but gives members a further opportunity to share interest, information and of course passion about our Hero
Members are asked to email details, descriptions and images where possible, stating clearly if the item is intended for auction by the end of February at the latest please to Marina Deestan-Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07770093878 for further information
