Battle of the Nile commemorative Luncheon
July 30 @ 11:00 - 22:00
After a two year absence, due to Covid restrictions, The Nelson Society Nile Luncheon in Buxton will return on Saturday, 30th July 2022. This year we can offer a gathering from 11 am in the Haddon Room for coffee/tea and chat before adjourning to the Chatsworth Dining Room at noon for a lecture from Graham Capel entitled “Two Teenage Lieutenants on HMS Vanguard at The Battle of the Nile”, followed by a three course Nile Luncheon followed by tea/coffee and mints. The cost of the above, including wine/water at the table, will be £49.00 per person and booking forms, cheques and stamped-addressed envelopes will need to be completed and returned to Jeanette Ryder by June 25th.
We have also planned the Chatsworth Room for the evening, for a convivial hot buffet supper, and Marina Deestan-Jones will be helping Jeanette with activities and this will be available at just £14 per head. In previous years it has been difficult to obtain restaurant meals on the Saturday night as Buxton, being a beautiful tourist destination in the middle of the tourist season, is usually full. The evening, therefore, is an opportunity for all members and friends to mix.
For those who have not attended the Nile Luncheon in Buxton, you may wish to book in for an extra night or two as it is a most beautiful town in the picturesque Peak District and there is so much to see and do. Please make your own reservations if staying at The Palace Hotel and quote “The Nelson Society Luncheon 30th July 2022” to obtain the special discounted rate of Doubles: £100 incl. breakfast. Singles: £75 incl. breakfast. Please note the Palace Hotel accepts BACS transfer or card.
