The Battle of Cape St Vincent Lecture and Buffet Luncheon
Friday 15thFebruary 2019.
The Union Jack Club, Sandell Street, London, SE1 8UJ
The Union Jack Club is a private club for members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.
Just one minute’s walk from exit 2 of Waterloo Station, it is easily accessible from all parts of the UK, so an ideal location.
To celebrate Nelson’s first famous victory in 1797, The Nelson Society returns to The Union Jack Club for this ever popular fixture and the first event of the new year. Chaired and introduced by past Chairman Paul Ganjou, the Lecture is by David Parham who is Associate Professor of Maritime Archaeology at Bournemouth University. An experienced marine archaeologist, Dave has worked extensively throughout the British Isles focusing on the archaeology of seafaring and ship construction of all periods. His most recent work is excavating HMS Invincible which was lost off the Solent Coast. HMS Invincible, a contemporary of HMS Victory, was one of the most significant warships ever built and its class of ship became the backbone of the Royal Navy. As usual, there will also be announcements and information about the main TNS events of the year – which already promises to be a very special one!
