VISIT TO MINTERNE HOUSE, DORSET – 17th June 2020
(THE HOME OF ADMIRAL SIR HENRY DIGBY GCB
– CAPTAIN OF HMS AFRICA AT TRAFALGAR)
Following our very successful 1st visit in 2017 the Nelson Society has again been invited by Lord Digby for a private visit to Minterne House, home of the Digby family, on Wednesday 17th June 2020. Whilst the magnificent gardens are open to visitors, the house, with its priceless collection of marine paintings and Trafalgar memorabilia, is not open to the public. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer this visit to Society Members and have the opportunity to view the unique documents and memorabilia the Digby family have retained from their naval ancestor. Lunch is also included in the magnificent dining room with its Flemish Tapestries.
For details of Minterne House and Henry Digby see The Nelson Dispatch, Volume 12 Part 1 Winter 2015. For more information on Minterne House, Minterne Magna, Dorset, DT2 7AU (including details of how to get there) see www.minterne.co.uk
