VISIT TO THE MURRAY STATUE – CHICHESTER, SATURDAY 4 MAY 2019
Further to the article on Nelson and Murray which appeared in the Summer 2018 edition of the Dispatch (Volume 13, Part 3, pp172-174) a visit to Chichester has been arranged.
The day will start with a visit to the Chichester City Council Offices, where we will be given an introduction to Murray and Chichester by members of the Murray Club, including a short film entitled ‘Crossing the T’. After viewing the Murray artefact collection we will walk to the Chichester Canal Basin for a boat trip and fish and chip lunch. After lunch we will walk the Murray Trail in Chichester in the company of guides. The day concludes with a visit to the sculptor Vincent Gray’s studio in Lavant (10-15 minute drive under own transport) to see progress on the life size clay model of the Nelson/Murray statue, as previously reported in the Dispatch.
The cost of the event is £30 including the boat trip and lunch. A Booking Form is enclosed – please return by 12 April. For further information please contact Chris Brett.
