Events
The Nelson Society is and active, friendly and inclusive organisation with a full programme of events where members and guests can meet up and share opportunities to pursue their interest in Nelson and his times.
We hold events to coincide with the commemoration of Nelson’s major naval victories at Cape St Vincent 1797, the Nile 1798, Copenhagen 1801 and Trafalgar 1805. Other events include visits to Nelson-related places of interest in the UK and abroad.
A highlight of our year is the Trafalgar Weekend for members and invited guests, held on the closest weekend to Trafalgar Day, 21 October, at a Nelson-related location. The event incorporates the Society’s Annual General Meeting and includes visits, lectures and a grand, formal Trafalgar Dinner in the tradition of the Royal Navy.
In recent years this Dinner has been held in some spectacular locations including Drapers’ Hall in the City of London, the Quarterdeck of Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, the Wardroom of HMS Nelson Portsmouth and the Royal Marines Stonehouse Barracks Plymouth.
