Join the Society
Membership of the Nelson Society is open to anyone interested in the aims and objects of the Society, with members drawn from all walks of life. The majority of members live in the UK but many come from overseas, including Antigua, Australia, France, Canada, China, Tenerife, Denmark, Greece, Spain and the USA.
The President of the Society is the Hon. Peregrine Nelson Hood.
The Society has a number of ‘honorary’ members and Life Vice Presidents, including founder members, well known ‘Nelsonians’, such as the author Dr John Sugden and eminent naval historian Dr Michael Duffy, historians and broadcasters Dan Snow and Dominic Sandbrook, marine artist Geoff Hunt and Vice Admiral Sir Alan Massey.
A key benefit of membership is access to our exclusive events. These include meetings, luncheons and lectures to commemorate Nelson’s naval victories at Cape St Vincent, Copenhagen, the Nile and Trafalgar, and organised trips and visits to museums, ships, dockyards, memorials and other relevant sites. Whilst most of these events take place in the UK recent trips have included Slovenia, Copenhagen, Menorca, Tenerife and Antigua.
Another key benefit of membership is our quarterly 64-page colour journal ‘The Nelson Dispatch’, sent free to all members, which contains articles, news, event reports, book reviews and membership news. Members have exclusive access to a 45 year archive of past issues which are invaluable for research.
Members also have access to our own specialist publications, merchandise and gifts.
