Two French ships managed to escape the Battle of Nile. One of those was ‘Le Genereux’. That ship was subsequently caught in 1800 and the flag of that ship was presented by Nelson to the City of Norwich. The Society part funded the conservation of that flag which was a centre-piece of the ‘Nelson and Norfolk’ exhibition at Norwich Castle Museum in 2017.
