The Society has been contacted by Charles Miller Ltd advising of a Nelson themed auction which members may find of interested. The details that have been provided are shown below:
“An important and rare item of great historical significance is being auctioned by live webcast with Charles Miller Ltd at 2pm on 20th January 2026. The large document in original framing and glass from 1806, with the calligraphy-scripted full text of Admiral Collingwood’s dispatch, details Nelson’s victory and death at the Battle of Trafalgar. The specialist auction marks “Horatio Nelson: Death and Funeral”, 220 years after his state funeral in St Paul’s Cathedral (https://www.charlesmillerltd.com/next-auction/).
After the government’s export bar last month on the Union Flag of Admiral Collingwood’s ship at Trafalgar, the Royal Sovereign, to allow for funds to be raised to keep the flag in the UK, it is similarly hoped that the ‘Remarkable printed broadsheet regarding the Battle of Trafalgar’ will also find a suitable new home without being exported abroad.
If the Nelson Society wishes to acquire this unique piece of history, it can be viewed at Charles Miller Ltd, 300 Munster Road, London SW6 6BH (10am-5pm); to attend the Sale Preview & Gallery Talk on Monday 12th January, 5.30pm-7.30pm, please contact: enquiries@charlesmillerltd.com.
The rare, glazed broadsheet is the first item in the auction:
